Glossybox - January 2018

I think Glossybox is the one box I've stuck with longer than all the others and that's quite possibly because I'm still finding uses for the majority of the products they supply. This month is no different although it did come with quite a big let down, a box of multi nutritional supplements - something I can't take safely whilst breastfeeding my little one ☹️ That aside though, overall I'm still impressed with their box, enough that I'm going to keep the subscription going for another month! (Remember, if you do want to unsubscribe from Glossybox, you need to do so by the 14th of the month or you'll automatically roll your subscription over another month - I'm hearing rumours that it's also a lot less painless a process if you pay through PayPal!)

Onto the box itself
We're back to the regular pink glossybox this month after their foray into a christmassy box design last month (I'll write that one up soon, life got a bit too busy last month!) The packaging is the usual amount of fabulous and this box always feels like they've taken an extra bit of care which I really appreciate when I'm opening it.

Delivery was quite slow this month, and last month actually, with me receiving mine several days after most other people which was frustrating, thank you Royal Mail! Hopefully this is just a consequence of the Christmas backlog and not a sign of things to come.

And the products
The box contained the usual five products, four of them full sized, the fifth a very generous travel size. The RRP make the box worth an estimated £100 which is pretty impressive!

Boots Beauty Beneath Supplements
Let's get this one out of the way first shall we? On paper this looks like a great idea, kick start the new year with some vitamins. You can't really fault the value either, they have a RRP of £39.99 (do people seriously pay that?!) However, there is such a multitude of restrictions on who can take them that this seems like a really poor choice of product for a box of this kind. As mentioned, I can't take them because I'm breastfeeding (whilst I think the vitamin A levels *might* be ok, the vitamin E won't be), others can't take them if they're vegetarians or vegans. You shouldn't take them if you're pregnant. You shouldn't take them if you smoke... The list goes on. The group's I'm in are flooded with people trying to sell theirs (mine are for sale if you want them!). On the plus side, I fed back my disappointment to Glossybox and they're sending me a mystery product to make up for it. So I can't really fault their customer service!

Green Tea Primer
I was just thinking the other day I needed to replace my primer so this was a very welcome product to discover in my box. I haven't tried it yet but I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl!

Morrocan Rosehip Face Oil
I'm in love with this oil already! The scent is very similar, if not identical, to a serum I had from Skin Chemists in the summer so it instantly transports me to happy holiday memories. It goes onto my skin beautifully and absorbs almost instantly. I can't wait to see if it does it some good!

Nail and Cuticle Energiser
Again, I was just thinking the other day, as I looked at my battered fingernails, that I could do with some of this! I can't wait to give it a try and see if I can repair some of the damage housework has caused!

Cream Blush
I seem to be amassing a collection of blushers but I don't have a cream one so I'm intrigued to see how this will work for me!

Conclusion
And thus concludes my roundup! I will feedback more on the individual products as I use them I'm sure and watch out for some previous Glossybox unboxing's going up soon, I have a couple sat waiting to finish and publish, so tardy right now! (Oh and I might have another subscription box that's snuck in this month coming soon too... ;-))

Birchbox - July 2017

I've uhmed and ahhed about posting this one, you know, if you haven't got something nice to say then you shouldn't say it kinda thing, but after seeing others be really disappointed with Birchbox and frequently seeing their offers designed to entice you in I've decided to put this out there. Maybe I'll return to them one day but this is where I'm at right now... I had a really bad month in July (seems to be a running theme at the moment, life is very trying right now) and, in a moment of weakness, I’m ashamed to say I fell for one of Birchboxes two for one offers.  These involve you purchasing their box of the month and them sending you a mystery box with another five items.  I partly justified this to myself because I fancied trying one of the products in July’s box and partly because I had a plan for the additional two drawer boxes they send their product in. I won’t be making the mistake again (seriously, I’ve even hidden them from my facebook feed beca...

Cheats Maltloaf

Ok, so it's not really a malt-loaf, but it does have the characteristics of one whilst being a super easy recipe and much nicer, in my opinion, to those shop bought lunch box ones you can get (and much healthier!)  I've been experimenting with this recipe for several months now and think I've finally cracked it.  Would love to hear your thoughts if you decide to give it a go! A post shared by Amy Elizabeth (@mummytreatsandtreasaures) on Jan 8, 2018 at 12:22pm PST Ingredients 1 cup of brewed Earl Grey tea 3 Wheatabix (or other such cereal - we quite like the Tesco own brand ones!) 1 cup of sultanas 1 tbsp honey (I've left this out before and it's still a nice cake just a bit more tart) 1 cup self raising flour 1 tsp baking powder Peel of one orange finally grated Splash of orange juice Method Place the sultanas, Weatabix (broken up), honey and tea in a bowl and mix Leave for at least two hours to soak (can leave in the fridge overnight if y...
