Pink Parcel - January 2018

I'd say this is another new box for me but, actually, it's not.  I received a box from Pink Parcel in November too but didn't get a chance to write up about it. This box was received as part of an offer for 50% off and I have to say it's pretty amazing for even full price let alone on a deal like this!

The box is aimed 100% at the female of the species being based around our monthly little friend, aiming to make a sucky part of the month just that little bit nicer!  After 30 months off due to pregnancy and then breastfeeding I have to say it's been extra welcome to have a little pick me up!

The box arrived via Royal Mail, wrapped in a plastic outer so not only will it not get soaked during the rain but also my neighbours, who took in the delivery, had no idea what was inside!  Inside the packaging is classy and inviting.  The main box contains several different containers separating the sanitary items into day, night, before (a lovely little canvas bag containing a few pads etc) and, the exciting box, treats for you.  I was surprised at just how much this box contained.  Certainly enough pads and tampons to last me the month if not longer!

The treats were the most surprising as there were just so many of them!  They seem to follow a similar sort of theme each month (from the limited number of boxes I've seen!): Some sort of chocolatey treat (definitely required!); a premium tea bag; some make-up and things to pamper yourself with.  This month these included:

Montezuma's Chilli and Lime milk chocolate
I haven't tried this yet but I'm definitely going to!  I've heard rumbles that it's a very strange flavour but I actually love trying different chocolates like this.

We Are Tea Peppermint leaf
I love peppermint tea so this was very welcome.  I think it's a great idea to include something like this but I have to say I was expecting to not like what was included (I've been completely off of tea since I fell pregnant with my first, much to my mum's sadness!)

Vega Nutritional Power
Not sure about this one, it's certainly not something I would buy for myself but, hey, always worth a try right!  I'm expecting it to be pretty rank, I shall update you when I pluck up the courage to try it!

Browcote Waterproof Brow Gel
Now, you'll know from previous posts I'm not really one to do my brows!  But even so, this may come in handy to keep what's there in check :-)

Laritzy Eye Liner
I'm addicted to eyeliner so a new one is always welcome!  This one has a cute glittery element too which I think will make it nice for special occasions.  It does feel a little hard so I'm not sure how well it will glide on but I'll give it a go!

Coopers Happy Spray
When I first sprayed this I was in two minds as to whether I liked it or not.  I love aromatherapy sprays but sometimes their scents can be a bit off putting.  On a whim though I decided to pop it in my bag for work, it promised energy giving properties and I really needed that this week!  It must have been shook up a bit in my bag because the scent at work was very different and I'm now in love!  This spray is going to be well used!

Bandzee Hair Ties
I love this type of hair tie so I was super excited to get four more in this box along with a cute little bag!  Even with my thick heavy locks I find them useful for tying back my hair.  The bag has also been reused to keep some of my little girls toy farm shapes in and is perfect for that too, double win!

So, all in all, a great box!  The only thing that would make it more valuable to me and that would keep me subscribed every month would be the option for some form of reusable cloth pad.  I tend to use reusables more and more these days so there's no way I'm going to need all of the products included in these boxes.  Something to think about Pink Parcel?

Birchbox - July 2017

I've uhmed and ahhed about posting this one, you know, if you haven't got something nice to say then you shouldn't say it kinda thing, but after seeing others be really disappointed with Birchbox and frequently seeing their offers designed to entice you in I've decided to put this out there. Maybe I'll return to them one day but this is where I'm at right now... I had a really bad month in July (seems to be a running theme at the moment, life is very trying right now) and, in a moment of weakness, I’m ashamed to say I fell for one of Birchboxes two for one offers.  These involve you purchasing their box of the month and them sending you a mystery box with another five items.  I partly justified this to myself because I fancied trying one of the products in July’s box and partly because I had a plan for the additional two drawer boxes they send their product in. I won’t be making the mistake again (seriously, I’ve even hidden them from my facebook feed beca...

Cheats Maltloaf

Ok, so it's not really a malt-loaf, but it does have the characteristics of one whilst being a super easy recipe and much nicer, in my opinion, to those shop bought lunch box ones you can get (and much healthier!)  I've been experimenting with this recipe for several months now and think I've finally cracked it.  Would love to hear your thoughts if you decide to give it a go! A post shared by Amy Elizabeth (@mummytreatsandtreasaures) on Jan 8, 2018 at 12:22pm PST Ingredients 1 cup of brewed Earl Grey tea 3 Wheatabix (or other such cereal - we quite like the Tesco own brand ones!) 1 cup of sultanas 1 tbsp honey (I've left this out before and it's still a nice cake just a bit more tart) 1 cup self raising flour 1 tsp baking powder Peel of one orange finally grated Splash of orange juice Method Place the sultanas, Weatabix (broken up), honey and tea in a bowl and mix Leave for at least two hours to soak (can leave in the fridge overnight if y...

Glossybox - January 2018

I think Glossybox is the one box I've stuck with longer than all the others and that's quite possibly because I'm still finding uses for the majority of the products they supply. This month is no different although it did come with quite a big let down, a box of multi nutritional supplements - something I can't take safely whilst breastfeeding my little one ☹️ That aside though, overall I'm still impressed with their box, enough that I'm going to keep the subscription going for another month! (Remember, if you do want to unsubscribe from Glossybox, you need to do so by the 14th of the month or you'll automatically roll your subscription over another month - I'm hearing rumours that it's also a lot less painless a process if you pay through PayPal!)
